After the long application and audition process, Chris was invited by the panel to join the Screened Music Network as a highly regarded emerging composer. The Network was created so that “exceptional British film and television music could be celebrated, enjoyed and discussed by music lovers around the world”. Other members of Screened Music include acclaimed composers such as Jack C Arnold, Anne Nikitin and Elizabeth Parker.

September 2008
Chris has recently begun his Masters at the Royal College of Music in London, and has been assigned Howard Davidson and Vasco Hexel as personal tutors for one-to-one tutorials. Both of these composers are very well established and prolific in their respective fields.
July 2008
In July Chris was informed that he had been offered the prestigious Stanley Bligh Trust scholarship for help with his tuition fees while studying at The Royal College of Music. Thank you to the Trust for their generous support, especially in the current financial climate.
April 2008
Chris recently recorded and produced a three track demo album in his home studio for a local Jazz band. They requested a very live sounding recording, reminiscent of the old 60′s and 70′s smoky basement bar jazz sets. The recordings were all tracked in his living room using SM57, SM58, 414 and D112 microphones and a DI box all recorded through a Fireface 800 onto a mac running Logic Pro. These recordings were then mixed and mastered using a variety of analogue modeling plug-ins and convolution reverb. The stand out elements of these tracks are the guitar and trumpet sounds, as well as the overall live atmosphere created. Please have a listen below:

After watching the film Sunshine by Danny Boyle Chris decided to score an orchestral and piano composition for the final scenes.

To stretch his composing knowledge Chris decided to write a Film Noir inspired score to the short animated film A Detective Story from The Animatrix. This particular animation acts as a perfect support to Chris’s fusion of Film Noir scoring techniques and modern composing technologies.

Having worked previously with Of The I on some of their early demo’s Chris was requested back as a freelance engineer and co-producer for their debut album. Take a listen to the first mix of the single below:

After applying to study on the Composition For Screen Masters course and submitting his portfolio of compositions at the end of 2007, Chris received notification that he had been accepted to attend an interview at the Royal College Of Music.
